The Good Boy (Boy, #1)

The Good Boy (Boy, #1) - Lisa Henry, J.A. Rock This was a great DD book. Oh how much I loved Derek. So patient and kind.

This is a story about Landon/Lane Moredock and his family. Well his parents ran a scheme and stole millions from people. However, his mother was arrested and his father fled the country only to have Landon take the rap for it. Yes, that's right, his own father is letting his son go to jail for something he had nothing to do with.

Lane is just a shy and quiet boy. Everybody thinks all these bad things about him, but he's nothing like that at all. He's just Lane.

Derek was one of those people who got money taken from him by Lane's family and he can't help but think the worst of Landon. But, that was before he really knew him.

This story broke my heart. I didn't really like the story line about the rich kid and the SEC and what not, but I looked past that and got to the heart of it. How can any parent abandon their child? How can any parent allow their child to take the fall for something THEY did? How can any parent talk so negatively about their child? How can any parent ignore and neglect their child? All Lane wanted was to be noticed. He wanted to be loved.

It just breaks my heart. Lane's inner thoughts were at times really hard to read. I couldn't get past how broken he was. What he thought of himself. Especially when he was talking with Andy. Oh man...

The puppy play in this book had me in tears. All Lane wanted was to be a good boy and be touched. Derek provided that during play time. I liked how Derek was just going with it at first. He had no idea what he was doing, but it worked for them. Because he knew it was what Lane needed.

Brin, well, I wanted to smack him a lot of the time upside the head. Then when it was just Lane and Brin together, I started to really like him.

Mr. Zimmerman though had me laughing so hard. He cut through the tears I was producing and made me laugh. It was great.

Overall, great emotional book!
