Callum & Harper - Fisher Amelie I am stuck between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately I think I am going to go with 4.

I loved Callum Tate. Seriously. So optimistic despite everything. I loved his attitude. I loved his relationships with his friends. I loved his loyalty.

Harper, I actually kind of wished you kept some of your smart ass attitude. It made you stand out. Then I felt like you fell into a shell. Yes, you were sweet, charming, adorable Harper, but I kind of wanted more.

I HATED the mis-communications/misunderstandings. UGH! Say what's on your mind, don't assume anything. It pissed me off so much I actually skimmed through a couple chapters.

Now, onto how I feel about "the system". Yep, when you turn 18 they hand you some money that'll last about an hour and send you on your way. What you mean they have to spend hours in a line for a cot only to be turned away? Yep. It happens all the time. These kids are just trying to make the best life for them and people keep shitting on them. I don't understand how "the system" can think this is okay. Perhaps, they need a lot more half way houses for those just getting on their own. Perhaps they should offer "life training" for those in foster care. Callum was right, Harper didn't even own a towel or anything. What would she have done if it wasn't for Callum standing in line at the Hope House when they got turned away? She would have freaked out. It hurts my heart knowing that so many kids up end like this. I just feel like there is more we can do. More we should be doing.
